Ceramic Coating in Jacksonville, FL

Water beads up. Dirt slides off. Washing gets easy.

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to your clear coat and cures into a hard, glossy, hydrophobic layer that resists UV, salt, sap and bug etching for years instead of weeks. Brake Through installs two ceramic packages at your home in the Jacksonville area — Polish + Ceramic starting at $550 and 1-Step Paint Correction + Ceramic starting at $700, by vehicle size — and both start with machine polishing so the coating locks in gloss, not swirl marks. Adding windows and wheels is up to you, and that's what sets your final price.

The straight answers

The two packages, honestly compared

Polish + Ceramic (starting at $550–$750 by vehicle size): the right choice for paint that's already in good shape — newer vehicles, garaged cars, anything without heavy swirls. One pass of machine polishing brings the gloss up and removes light wash marring, then the coating goes on.

1-Step Paint Correction + Ceramic (starting at $700–$900 by vehicle size): for paint that's been through a few years of brush washes, Florida sun and love-bug season. A 1-step correction is a more aggressive single polishing pass that removes more of the swirls and light scratches before the coating seals the finish. Not sure which you need? Send a photo of the paint in direct sun and we'll tell you straight.

Both starting prices cover the paint. Adding the coating to your windows and wheels is up to you, and that's what sets your final price — we'll quote it before we start. Every ceramic appointment requires a $100 deposit to hold the date.

Durability ratings are the coating manufacturer's, and they assume the maintenance below. A coating that gets run through a brush car wash every week will not see its rated life.

What "paint enhancement" means — and what it doesn't

Every ceramic package includes machine polishing before the coating goes on. In the Polish + Ceramic package that's one gloss-enhancing pass that removes the majority of wash marring and light swirls. In the 1-Step Paint Correction + Ceramic package it's a more aggressive single pass that takes out more of the swirls and light scratches. Either way the coating seals in a corrected finish instead of locking in defects — it's the step that makes a coated car look better than it did new, and it's why we won't skip it.

Neither is full multi-stage paint correction. Deeper scratches, heavy water-spot etching and isolated defects that can't be safely removed while preserving the clear coat may remain. If your paint needs multi-stage correction, we'll tell you at the inspection — before anything is coated — and quote it separately. We would rather lose a coating job than coat over damage.

How a ceramic coating holds up in Northeast Florida

Northeast Florida is a hard place to own paint: near-constant UV rays that drive oxidation, salt air within a few miles of the ocean, road debris and grime, lovebug residue that turns acidic in the sun, oak sap and pollen for months, and hard sprinkler water. A ceramic coating doesn't make paint indestructible, but it changes what those environmental contaminants do. Bugs and sap release with a rinse instead of etching in or staining. Water spots sit on the coating instead of the clear coat. Sun fades a coating you can renew, not paint you can't.

Where you park matters as much as the package you pick. A garaged car in Orange Park will hold a coating longer than a driveway car on A1A with the same coating. Tell us where the vehicle lives and we'll recommend the package that fits — including telling you when a coating isn't the right spend yet.

Ceramic coating vs paint protection film (PPF)

They solve different problems. A ceramic coating is a thin, hard layer that protects your vehicle's paint from UV rays, chemicals, bug etching and stains, and makes every wash easier. It will not stop a rock chip. Paint protection film (PPF) is a thick, clear film that absorbs rock chips and road debris, usually on the front bumper, hood and mirrors.

Brake Through installs ceramic coatings; we don't install PPF. If highway rock chips are your main worry, PPF on the front end is worth a look, and a ceramic coating can go on over it. For most daily drivers in Jacksonville, a coating is the better investment: it protects the appearance of the whole vehicle, not just the front, for a fraction of the cost of full-body film.

Maintaining a coated car (the part nobody tells you)

A coating is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. To get its rated life: hand-wash or touchless only — no brush car washes, which are the fastest way to dull any finish, coated or not. Use a pH-neutral car soap; harsh degreasers and "wax" washes strip a coating over time. Don't apply wax or paint sealant on top of it — they just sit on the surface and mask the hydrophobics. Dry with clean microfiber, and rinse bird droppings, bugs and sap off within a day or two instead of letting them bake.

If you'd rather not think about any of that, this is exactly what our bi-weekly maintenance plan is for — starting at $99 per visit, and your coating gets washed the way it should be, every two weeks, by the person who installed it.

When a ceramic coating is NOT worth it

There are times we'll talk you out of a coating, and here's when: if you're returning a lease in the next year, a Wash / Clay / Seal ($160–$180) with graphene protection is probably the smarter move than a coating. If the clear coat is already failing — peeling, chalky, or oxidized through — a coating won't fix it and we won't put one on; that paint needs bodywork first. If you're going to keep using automatic brush washes, save the money; the coating will be dulled inside a season.

And if what you actually want is a car that looks clean every day, a maintenance plan on top of a good sealant does that for less than a coating. A ceramic coating is for people who want the paint protected and easy to care for, for years. When that's you, it's the best money you'll spend on the car. When it isn't, we'll say so.

What happens on coating day

A coating install is a full day at your home. We need shade or a garage, and the car should stay dry for the first 24 hours afterward. The order is: thorough hand wash and iron decontamination, clay treatment, full paint inspection with you, single-stage paint enhancement, panel preparation to strip every trace of polishing oil, then the coating itself — applied and leveled panel by panel — followed by exterior glass, wheels and tires, and a final inspection.

Why it matters

Wash less, shine more

Hydrophobic beading means dirt has nothing to grip.

Keep the deep gloss

UV protection fights fade instead of watching it dull each season.

Chemical-resistant

A slick surface that resists sap, droppings, and bug etching.

FAQ

Ceramic Paint Protection — common questions

How long does a ceramic coating last?

Years, not months — a professional coating is built to outlast any wax or sealant. How long it actually holds depends on where the car lives and how it's washed: hand or touchless only, no brush car washes. We'll tell you at the inspection what to expect for your vehicle.

How much does a ceramic coating cost?

Polish + Ceramic starts at $550 for a sedan, $650 for a midsize, and $750 for an SUV or truck. 1-Step Paint Correction + Ceramic starts at $700, $800, and $900. Those starting prices cover the paint — adding windows and wheels sets your final price. A $100 deposit is required to book any ceramic appointment.

Will a ceramic coating remove my scratches?

Both packages include machine polishing first. Polish + Ceramic removes most wash marring and light swirls; 1-Step Paint Correction + Ceramic goes further on swirls and light scratches. Deeper isolated scratches may remain if they can't be safely corrected while preserving the clear coat.

Which ceramic package should I choose?

Polish + Ceramic fits paint that's already in good shape — newer, garaged, no heavy swirls. 1-Step Paint Correction + Ceramic is for paint that's picked up swirls and light scratches from brush washes and Florida sun. Not sure? Send a photo of the paint in direct sun and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a deposit for a ceramic coating?

Yes — a $100 deposit is required to book every ceramic appointment, no exceptions. It holds your date and is applied toward your total.

How do I wash a ceramic-coated car?

Hand wash or touchless only, with a pH-neutral car soap and clean microfiber. Skip brush car washes, don't wax over the coating, and rinse bugs, sap and bird droppings off within a day or two. Our bi-weekly maintenance plan does all of this for you.

Is a ceramic coating worth it in Florida?

For a car you're keeping and want easy to care for, yes — Florida's UV, salt air, lovebugs, sap and hard water are exactly what a coating is built to shrug off. It is not worth it on a lease ending soon, on paint whose clear coat is already failing, or if you'll keep using brush car washes.

How long does a ceramic coating installation take, and can you do it at my house?

A full day at your home. We need shade or a garage, and the car should stay dry for the first 24 hours after. Every step — wash, decontamination, paint enhancement, prep, coating, final inspection — happens in your driveway.
